City officials said Wednesday that they have set up a relief fund to help people rebuild homes damaged by the severe hailstorm and flood that hit Watts on Nov. 12, and that $100,000 in grants already have been pledged.
Councilwoman Janice Hahn contributed $50,000 from her city discretionary funds, noting that the storm caused significant damage to 55 homes in the community.
The nonprofit Los Angeles Neighborhood Housing Services will manage the fund, said Mayor James K. Hahn, who joined his sister in Watts for the announcement.
