The family of a 5-year-old girl found alive beside the body of her mother nine days after their car plunged into a ravine off Highway 60 last year, has sued highway and law enforcement agencies.
Norma Bustamante, 26, and her daughter were in a car that went off the road April 5, 2004. Bustamante died in the crash.
The suit filed this week against the California Highway Patrol, state Department of Transportation and Indio police alleged hazardous conditions and an inadequate search.
