11 Injured as Taxi Tries to Flee Accident Scene

Eleven people were hurt, including a pedestrian who was run over, when a taxi tried to flee after an accident in Midtown Manhattan, police said.
The taxi rear-ended a station wagon, pushing it over the pedestrian, then attempted to leave, police said. In the process, the cab struck two minibuses and three other taxis.
The cab driver, Syed Zia, 54, of Queens, was hospitalized in serious condition. Charges were pending, police said.
