McClatchy Newspaper Is Cleared in Audit

McClatchy Co., the Sacramento-based owner of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, said a routine review by the Audit Bureau of Circulations verified the newspaper’s reported sales, which have been challenged in a lawsuit brought by four advertisers.
The suit accuses the Star Tribune of dumping unsold copies of the paper and manipulating reports to the Audit Bureau to charge higher advertising rates. Two of the advertisers have withdrawn from the suit.
