Anchors away

I was mildly interested to see Elizabeth Vargas and Bob Woodruff taking over for the late Peter Jennings on ABC’s “World News Tonight” on Jan. 3 [“Dual Anchors, Not Dueling,” by Matea Gold, Dec. 7]. That is, until I read that Vargas has an almost 3-year-old son and Woodruff four children, ages 5 to 14. With a schedule that will have them frequently dispatched “to the field” and broadcasting in all three time zones as well as on the Web, I’d rather they schedule time for their children. I can live without them, but their children cannot.
