2 Slayings Bring City’s ’05 Homicide Toll to 70

Two men were shot and killed Sunday in a residential neighborhood, raising the number of homicides in the city this year to 70, authorities said.
The men, whose names and ages were not released, were shot about 3:45 a.m. in the 600 block of North Culver Avenue. They were transported to a local hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
The double homicide comes amid a rash of recent killings. The city had 42 homicides last year.
