A glowing element

Mercury glass is no longer made with mercury -- and no longer limited to shades of silver, thanks to the new lamp company Luminous. Designer Cilla Zweig stumbled across a factory near San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, that maintained old molds for decorative glass, and the light bulb switched on in her head. She added hardware to three forms -- a bottle, a square decanter and a bulb -- in pungent metallic chartreuse, cobalt, orange and turquoise.
