Nineteen vehicles were destroyed and two others damaged Wednesday when a fire, believed to be arson, swept through the garages of an Aliso Viejo condominium complex, the Orange County Fire Authority reported.
No one was injured and none of the homes in the complex were damaged in the 3 a.m. blaze in the 23400 block of Via San Gabriel, Capt. Stephen Miller said. The fire was extinguished in about 30 minutes by 40 firefighters, Miller said.
The blaze, which affected 12 garages and caused $1 million in damage, was believed to have started in a trash container between two multicar garages.
Miller said the fire was believed to be arson.
“The investigation is ongoing. These investigations can be quite lengthy when there’s lots of witnesses and leads to follow up on.”
