Acts commit to Scottish concert

Dido, Annie Lennox, Travis and Texas will take the stage in Edinburgh, Scotland, for a sixth Live 8 rock concert on July 6, the same day the G8 group of industrialized countries meets, organizers said Tuesday.
Composer-singer Bob Geldof has announced concerts in London, Paris, Rome, Berlin and Philadelphia for July 2 to urge G8 leaders to boost aid to Africa, cancel debts and remove trade barriers.
Several artists performing in Edinburgh are also appearing at the July 2 concerts, in what has been billed as the biggest event of its kind.
Organizer Midge Ure, Geldof’s partner in the 1985 Band Aid project, said people should come to Edinburgh only if they have transportation and accommodations arranged. “I wouldn’t bring my family to something I thought could be a dreadful situation,” she said.
