West Nile-Infected Mosquitoes Discovered

West Nile-infected mosquitoes have been found in pools of stagnant water in east Long Beach and Cerritos, the first group of insects with the virus discovered this year in Los Angeles County, officials said.
A crow infected with the virus was found late last month near Cal State Long Beach.
Officials will post West Nile warning signs advising residents to eliminate standing water on their properties, use repellent containing the chemical DEET and utilize screen doors and windows to prevent mosquitoes from entering homes.
At least 16 people in Long Beach were infected with the virus last year and one elderly woman died of complications.
