ChoicePoint a Victim of Poor Business Sense

In regard to “ChoicePoint CEO Had Denied Any Previous Breach of Database” (March 3):

I am the owner of a small Internet business. About eight months ago I started receiving “orders” from individuals and companies in Nigeria.

Even I, a novice, could tell that this was a scam. So how is it that a corporation like ChoicePoint Inc. is so dumb or greedy that no one there could figure this out before jeopardizing the financial security of so many people?

It is ironic that ChoicePoint with all its data could not do a better job of verifying the legitimacy of its prospective data users.
