The man accused of plotting to kidnap talk-show host David Letterman’s 16-month-old son and the boy’s nanny and hold them for $5 million ransom pleaded not guilty Tuesday.
Kelly Frank, 43, who was arrested last week, appeared briefly in district court in the small north-central Montana town of Choteau on felony charges of solicitation and theft and a misdemeanor charge of obstruction.
Judge Marc Buyske ordered Frank, who had worked as a painter at Letterman’s ranch, to remain jailed in lieu of $650,000 bail pending his court appearance April 5.
