Sempra to Hold Annual Meeting in London

Sempra Energy will hold its annual meeting in London this year, 5,500 miles away from its San Diego headquarters, prompting concern that many of its shareholders may be unable to afford to attend.
“It is the difference between the price of a tank of gas and a round-trip airfare to London, the jet lag and all the time involved,” said shareholder advocate John Chevedden.
Sempra has grown into a global energy company in the last few years, spokesman Doug Kline said. Its 20 largest shareholders include two London-based funds, UBS Global Asset Management and Barclay’s Global Investors.
The meeting will be April 5.
Sempra shares fell 23 cents to $39.23 on the New York Stock Exchange.
