With Slayings of 2, Compton Homicides Rise to at Least 65

Two men were shot to death Wednesday evening at a home in Compton, according to a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The shooting was reported about 8:30 p.m. in the 1000 block of South Exmoor Avenue, near Wilmington Avenue. The names of the victims were not immediately released.
The deaths follow the killings of two men Monday in the unincorporated area of East Rancho Dominguez, which borders Compton. In that attack, the victims were walking in the 4400 block of Compton Boulevard, officials said, when a gunman with an assault rifle jumped out of a car and began shooting.
No arrests have been made in either incident.
Wednesday’s killings pushed the number of homicides in Compton to at least 65 for the year, the highest in Los Angeles County and higher than the city recorded in all of last year. Authorities attribute the increase to gang-related crime.
