DirecTV Unit to Trim 100 Jobs, Shut Facility

DirecTV Group Inc. said its Latin American unit would cut 100 jobs and close a Florida broadcast center.

DirecTV Latin America will move Florida operations and 30 jobs to Long Beach, the company said.

DirecTV has been reorganizing its Latin American operations since October 2004, when the company said it would sell subscribers in Brazil and Mexico to News Corp.’s Sky television service. Sky sold its customers in Colombia, Chile and other countries to DirecTV.
