Sinn Fein Rewarded for IRA Peace Moves

Britain said it would restore taxpayer funding to Sinn Fein, the Irish Republican Army-linked party, in response to a report by experts confirming IRA peace moves.
The experts said the IRA had assaulted nine people and shot one person, none fatally, between March and July 28, when the outlawed group instructed its members to “dump arms” and to observe “exclusively peaceful means.”
Since then, they said, the IRA had assaulted one person, one of its own members. But they said the group appeared to have stopped attacking rivals within its Catholic power bases.
