The Fast-Food Fad
I have one word for Dan Neil’s comments on fast food: boring (“The Verdict: Oink,” 800 Words, July 16). Doesn’t anyone have any constructive recommendations for how fast- food companies can make things better? They try healthy menus, but Americans don’t want healthy food. Eliminating super-size items just results in customers buying extra fries.

Neil probably has no idea how pompous he sounds. He makes the TV character of Dr. Frasier Crane seem like a down-to-earth guy. Could he find nothing redeeming in the KFC dish or others like it? Is fast food really evil? It was a mildly entertaining read, but if Neil really believes in all the drivel he wrote, then it’s obvious how out of touch he is with mainstream America. There is a time and place for fast food, but apparently not in his rarified world.
