Re “Waxman Wants to Know Why Snail Mail’s So Slow,” Aug. 8
My wife and I found the article on the ongoing slow service for first-class mail to be in line with our own experience.
Only recently married, we mailed wedding invitations from our home in Santa Monica to friends in Los Angeles and family in England. In four cases, invitations arrived in England before they were received in L.A. Two (both to Eagle Rock) took nearly two weeks.
We would have been better off delivering the invitations ourselves and saving the postage. We wound up sending replacements that actually beat out the originals. Surely this is not good enough and we should be able to expect more from our postal service.
