A good tour guide and a little cake ...

I enjoyed your piece on choosing the right guide [“Meeting a Guide Is Like a Blind Date: Anything Can Happen,” Aug. 13]. It brought back memories of a bus trip we took in Austria to the Vienna Woods.
The guide was knowledgeable and fluent in English, German and French, and was willing to answer all our questions. The tour included an afternoon stop for the famed Sachertort.
The only problem was that whenever we were in the coach, Strauss waltzes were played at a deafening pitch.
And, alas, the Sachertort was a great disappointment every time we tried it.
We went on to France for outstanding pastries.
