In case they need to pack up and go

Although Realtors may have coined the expression, “Why rent when you can buy?” a good segment of Hollywood prefers leasing to owning. And every TV filming season -- generally September and January -- brings a wave of actor-renters.

This fall, Scott Wolf, previously in “Party of Five” and “Everwood,” became one of the stars of ABC’s new series, “The Nine,” and with that, Wolf, 38, and his wife, Kelley, leased a furnished four-bedroom, 3 1/2 -bathroom contemporary, built in 1962. The Hollywood Hills home, with two fireplaces, was leased for a year at $8,000 a month.

Another move could be in the works: “The Nine,” though not officially canceled, has fallen off the TV schedule. ABC officials have said there are plans to run the remaining six unaired episodes starting this spring.

The listing agent was Diana Kaye of Coldwell Banker, Beverly Hills. James Foreman of Sotheby’s International Realty, Sunset Strip, represented the Wolfs in their lease, and he also kept busy helping several other celebrities find homes.

His daily life is in Larchmont Village

Actor Rob Corddry and his wife, Sandra, leased a renovated, two-bedroom, two-bathroom California bungalow, built in 1921, this fall. The house, within walking distance of Larchmont Village, was leased for a year at about $4,000 a month.

Corddry left his longtime job as a correspondent on “The Daily Show With Jon Stewart” to star in “The Winner,” a new half-hour show for Fox, expected to be aired in mid-season. Corddry also has roles in the Farrelly brothers’ “Heartbreak Kid,” starring Ben Stiller, and “Blades of Glory,” opposite Will Ferrell, Will Arnett and Jon Heder.

Foreman represented the Corddrys as lessees. Sheila Rose of Prudential, John Aaroe in Beverly Hills had the listing.

Photogenic on the Sunset Strip

Celebrity and fashion photographer Markus Klinko has leased two homes above Sunset Strip -- one as a residence and the other as a workplace.

One house is a French traditional, the other is an all-white contemporary with city views. One rented for $6,200 a month, the other for $9,000 a month. Foreman assisted Klinko in the lease transactions.

A cozy spot, before ‘Curtains’

Composer John Kander leased a three-bedroom, three-bathroom home with a pool in Los Feliz for six weeks while his musical “Curtains” had a summer run at the Ahmanson Theatre. The house rents for $9,000 a month.
