* A federal court in New Jersey awarded $112 million in damages to Texas Instruments Inc. of Dallas in its patent infringement case against Conexant Systems Inc. of Newport Beach. A Conexant unit infringed three patents related to digital subscriber line technology, the court found.
* Virgin America Inc. said it named as its chairman Don Carty, the former chairman and chief executive of AMR Corp.
* Allergan Inc. extended the deadline for investors to trade in their Inamed Corp. stock because the proposed transaction hadn’t yet won U.S. regulatory approval. Investors in Santa Barbara-based Inamed have until Feb. 22, Irvine-based Allergan said.
