Work Done Recently on Partial Tunnel Into U.S.

Federal authorities Friday discovered a partially completed tunnel extending 30 yards into the United States from Mexico.
The crudely built, 3-by-3-foot passage, about one mile west of the Otay Mesa Port of Entry, had been worked on as recently as Thursday, authorities said.
A tip led a multiagency border task force to the tunnel, at least the 20th found in Arizona or California since Sept. 11, 2001.
