Brandon Worthy scored a career-high 32 points to lead Loyola Marymount to a 78-70 victory over St. Mary’s on Monday night at Gersten Pavilion.
Worthy scored 26 of his 32 points in the second-half, including 10 free throws in the final 2:35, to give the Lions, 8-12 overall and 5-1 West Coast Conference, their fifth win in the last six games. He also had seven rebounds and four assists.
With Loyola Marymount leading, 60-57, with 7:52 left, Worthy scored 16 of the Lions’ final 18 points to secure their fifth straight home victory.
Blake Sholberg scored a career-high 15 points for the Gaels (8-9, 1-4).
Pepperdine 65, Santa Clara 45 -- Tashaan Forehan-Kelly scored 21 points, and the Waves (6-12, 2-4 WCC) held the Broncos (8-9, 1-4) without a field goal for nearly five minutes of the second half while going on a 19-7 run at Firestone Fieldhouse to end a three-game losing streak.
Freshman John Bryant had a career-high 16 points and nine rebounds for Santa Clara, whose 45 points and 27.1% shooting were season lows.
