Siren Lure Making Return

Siren Lure, who has won three of five starts since being claimed for $50,000 on May 8, will make his first appearance in nearly four months in the $75,000 Impressive Luck II Handicap at Santa Anita.

Since being claimed by trainer Art Sherman for a partnership, Siren Lure, a 5-year-old Joyeux Danseur gelding, has won an optional claimer at Golden Gate Fields, the Robert Kerlan Memorial at Hollywood Park and the Blue Jay Way at Santa Anita in his most recent outing on Oct. 1.

A winner of half of his 14 lifetime starts, Siren Lure has been at his best on the turf. He has won five of eight on the lawn, including two of three over the Santa Anita turf course. He will be ridden by Alex Solis, who has been aboard for two of his victories since he was claimed.

The Impressive Luck II, which will be run at about 6 1/2 furlongs on the grass, drew a full field. Siren Lure will have 11 rivals, and the main threats in the day’s seventh race are Lazzeri, who has won two of three down the hill, Mighty Beau, Running Free, Ticafic and Railroad.

Race of the day: Dubai Escapade, who beat maidens by 5 1/4 lengths in her final start in the United Arab Emirates on March 5, will make her U.S. debut for trainer Eoin Harty in the ninth race today at Gulfstream Park. John Velazquez, who won his second consecutive Eclipse Award as the nation’s top rider Monday night, has the mount on the 4-year-old Awesome Again filly for Darley Stable in the $33,000 allowance at 6 1/2 furlongs.

One for the road: Stately Pegasus acts like a filly who will improve with more distance and a switch to turf and can score a mild upset in the 10th today at Gulfstream. Chris DeCarlo will ride the 3-year-old daughter of Fusaichi Pegasus in the $32,000 maiden contest at 1 1/16 miles on the grass.
