Brinker Faces Class Action Over Meal Breaks

Brinker International Inc., operator of the Chili’s and Romano’s Macaroni Grill restaurant chains, must face a class-action lawsuit claiming that the company violated California law mandating workers’ meal and rest breaks.
San Diego County Superior Court Judge Patricia A.Y. Cowett certified the class of 63,000 current and former employees, according to a lawyer representing the workers.
Brinker, based in Dallas, settled a similar case filed by California’s Department of Labor in 2002 for $10 million.
