Minnesota 7, at Chicago 4: Joe Mauer hit a three-run homer, and Michael Cuddyer and Justin Morneau also homered for the Twins. Brad Radke pitched six solid innings for the Twins, who pulled within two games of second-place Chicago in the AL Central with their 32nd win in 40 games. Chicago lost for the 10th time in 13 games and fell 7 1/2 games behind first-place Detroit.

Detroit 9, at Cleveland 7: The Tigers, who improved to a major league-best 34-15 on the road, pounced on a first-inning error to score five unearned runs before the Indians even came to bat. Ramon Vazquez and Ben Broussard homered for Cleveland, 3-8 since the All-Star break.

New York 6, at Texas 2: Randy Johnson struck out seven to beat Kevin Millwood, winning the matchup of the last two pitchers to throw no-hitters. Slumping Alex Rodriguez returned to Texas with two hits and an error-free game.
at Seattle 7, Toronto 3: Kenji Johjima homered and drove in four runs to back Joel Pineiro’s first win in more than a month. Johjima hit a two-run single during Seattle’s four-run second inning off Casey Janssen (6-10). Toronto’s Vernon Wells was a late scratch after hurting his back during batting practice.
