From Times Wire Reports
Two people were rescued after ditching their twin-engine Piper Seminole, from Santa Barbara, in the ocean about 535 miles northeast of Hilo, the U.S. Coast Guard said.
A C-130 flew out to meet the Piper after the Coast Guard received a distress call. The C-130 dropped flares on the ocean to guide the plane to a landing near the container ship Virginius. The ship, bound for China, picked up the two unidentified people. A nurse aboard the vessel reported there were no injuries.
