The native of Copenhagen graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 1943 and set up his own shop in 1952.
He had his first major exhibition in 1954, and some of his works were included in an exhibition of Scandinavian art in New York City.
Wiinblad later displayed his work in dozens of art galleries and museums around the world, including the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Danish Museum of Art & Design in Copenhagen.
He also created a fountain for Copenhagen’s famed Tivoli Gardens amusement park.
