Natasha Lacy scored on a layup with 2.2 seconds left Thursday night and Texas Christian ended No. 17 Utah’s seven-game winning streak with a 63-62 victory at Salt Lake City.
Shona Thorburn and Jessica Perry scored 12 apiece for the Utes, 20-6 overall and 11-4 in the Mountain West Conference.
Lacy and Ashley Davis finished with 15 points each for the Horned Frogs (16-10, 10-5).
No. 18 Brigham Young 69, Colorado State 67 -- Ambrosia Anderson scored 22 points and the Cougars (23-3, 13-2 Mountain West) held off the Rams (8-18, 2-13) at Fort Collins, Colo.
Sara Hunter led Colorado State (8-18, 2-13) with 27 points.
No. 23 Florida 98, Mississippi State 83 -- Danielle Santos scored 24 points to lead the Gators (21-7) past the Bulldogs (6-22) in the first round of the Southeastern Conference tournament at North Little Rock, Ark.
Florida (21-7), seeded fifth, advanced to today’s quarterfinals against fourth-seeded Kentucky.
No. 23 Vanderbilt 84, Alabama 62 -- Cherish Stringfield made three three-point baskets early in the second half and the Commodores (20-9) defeated the Crimson Tide (9-19) at North Little Rock, Ark.
Vanderbilt will play No. 12 Georgia in a quarterfinal today.
