For the Record, Young Leads No. 10 Baylor

Sophia Young became the all-time leading scorer in conference history, and her six consecutive points in overtime helped give No. 10 Baylor (23-5) a 79-74 victory over Kansas State (19-10) Wednesday night in the Big 12 tournament quarterfinals at Dallas.

Young scored 35 points and surpassed Kansas State’s Kendra Wecker, who scored 2,333 points from 2002 to 2005.

No. 8 Oklahoma 78, Iowa State 74 -- Freshman Courtney Paris set a Big 12 tournament record with 36 points, but the Sooners (27-4) needed a three-point basket by Erin Higgins with 49 seconds left to get past the Cyclones (17-12).

No. 17 Louisiana Tech 80, Idaho 57 -- The Lady Techsters (24-4) raced past the Vandals (10-19) in the first round of the Western Athletic Conference tournament at Reno.

No. 19 Utah 67, Air Force 47 -- Kim Smith scored 29 points and had 13 rebounds to lead the Utes (22-6) past the Falcons (13-15) in the quarterfinals of the Mountain West Conference tournament at Denver.

No. 20 Brigham Young 65, Colorado State 45 -- The Cougars (24-4) opened the second half with a 13-0 run and routed the Rams (9-20) in the quarterfinals of the Mountain West tournament.

Nevada Las Vegas 57, No. 21 New Mexico 45 -- The Rebels (19-10) put an end to any hopes the Lobos (21-9) had of winning a fourth straight Mountain West tournament title.

No. 22 Texas A&M; 73, Nebraska 64 -- Takia Starks scored 22 points to help the Aggies (23-7) beat the Cornhuskers (17-12) in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 tournament.

No. 24 Bowling Green 73, Northern Illinois 61 -- The Falcons (26-2) used a 22-4 run midway through the second half at Cleveland to pull away from the Huskies (12-17) in the quarterfinals of the Mid-American Conference tournament.

Army 69, Holy Cross 68 -- Stefanie Stone made a free throw with eight seconds left to give the Knights (20-10) the victory over the visiting Crusaders (16-14) in the title game of the Patriot League tournament.
