Napster Launches Free Music-Listening Service

Napster Inc., the onetime renegade music download service, has returned to its roots with a new Web service that offers users the chance to listen to more than 2 million tracks for free.

Santa Clara-based Napster will split advertising revenue with the record companies. Users can listen to songs up to five times before having to pay.
