Racism and illegal immigration

Re “O.C. can you say ... ‘anti-Mexican?’ ” Current, May 8

It’s amazing how a lot of people in Orange County turn up their noses at greater Los Angeles because it’s just not “white” enough for them. Of course, you’ve got to get a few drinks in them for them to admit that. And it’s not just limited to Mexicans but Iranians, African Americans, Asians -- anybody non-white. Mexicans just happen to be the convenient target of the moment.

Take heed, people of Orange County and the rest of California: Mexicans were here before you, and they’ll be here long after you’re gone.

After reading Arellano’s diatribe alleging racism yet again of those who wish to actually stop illegal immigration, I am forced to conclude that such folk believe that they can read hearts. It’s a shame they can’t put as much effort into reading the law.
