Shredding fears for 5 cents a key card

THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for the key card story [“Hotel Cards: Holding ID Key?” Travel Insider, May 7].

I have been in hotel operations management for more than 10 years and have had to calm fears many times. I have trained managers on this subject, and I tell them they can tell customers, “If you’re concerned, keep the card and shred it at home. They cost me a nickel.”
