City Beaches and Parks Could See Smoking Ban

A City Council committee voted Wednesday to ban smoking at all city beaches and parks. Violations would be a misdemeanor.
Police Chief Bill Lansdowne said the ordinance, if adopted by the council, could be enforced by police officers and lifeguards. Smokers could also be placed under citizen’s arrest, he said.
