Celebration of cultural riches

Eight musicians and 37 dancers celebrate the rich cultural traditions of Central America when the Ballet Moderno y Folklorico Nacional de Guatemala presents the U.S. premiere of “Guatemala: The Soul of the Earth” at the John Anson Ford Amphitheatre. Founded in 1964 and directed for the last 27 years by Lucia Armas, the company will present a marimba suite and a re-enactment of a carnival in honor of the Black Christ of Esquipulas, as well as dances from the Eastern and Northwestern regions of the country.
