The waterfalls are roaring, the high country is white with snow and a key highway hit by a rockslide near the entry to Yosemite National Park has partly reopened heading into Memorial Day weekend.
Highway 140 from Merced, shut for most of May after a hillside collapsed, has opened to one-way traffic. Visitors should expect short delays, officials said Thursday. Meanwhile, Tioga Pass remains closed by deep snow. The road to Glacier Point has reopened in time for weekend visitors, and steel cables leading hikers to the top of Half Dome have been secured.
