Drunk Driving Suspect Is Arrested in 2 Deaths

A suspected drunk driver fleeing a hit-and-run accident ran a red light and struck another vehicle, killing two people and injuring a pedestrian, a Los Angeles police spokesman said Sunday.
The driver, identified as Jose Onesimo Cruz, 37, was arrested on suspicion of homicide, said LAPD Officer Karen Smith.
The collision occurred at 10:40 p.m. Saturday at Slauson and Hooper avenues, police said.
The victims were not identified pending notification of their relatives, police said.
