Assault Charges Sought in Sports Camp Hazing
- Share via
The Madera County Sheriff’s Department has recommended that prosecutors charge four Gustine High School football players with assault and false imprisonment in connection with an alleged hazing incident.
The boys, who were not identified because they are minors, were at a sports camp in July when hazing allegedly occurred, officials said.
Some of the boys told parents that several of the players were sexually assaulted, but authorities refused to discuss the charges when they made the recommendation Thursday.
No sex charges were filed.
Head coach Carl Scudder, who was at the camp with the boys, was barred from coaching this season.
