Re “Police Officer Records Deemed Secret,” Sept. 1
Merrick Bobb, who monitors the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department for the Board of Supervisors, implies that publicizing the names of lawyers and doctors who have had their licenses suspended or have been disbarred is similar to misconduct accusations by law enforcement. This is very misleading. Why is it so important to publish accusations and the names of police officers? Those who file complaints or lawsuits know who allegedly mistreated them; that is the important thing.
It is time that reporters stop convicting police officers through the media.
