Officials on Friday announced five finalists for the county’s top administrative post.
The Board of Supervisors is scheduled to interview the applicants to replace retiring Chief Administrative Officer David Janssen in closed session Monday. The candidates are Michael Henry, head of the county human resources department; Wally Hill, deputy county administrator in Hillsborough County, Fla.; Gilbert Ivey, chief administrative officer for the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California; Mark Saladino, county treasurer, tax collector and public administrator; and Sandra Vargas, administrator in Hennepin County, Minn.
The county’s chief administrator balances a $20-billion budget, in addition to coordinating the work of 37 departments and advising the supervisors on nearly all county business.
