Thousands flee Cyclone Gonu

Cyclone Gonu hit Oman’s central coast with strong winds and rain after thousands of residents fled to higher ground. Forecasters said the storm was on a course for southern Iran and the Persian Gulf.
Rain was heavy in the capital, Muscat, and nearby towns. But no serious damage was reported immediately.
