County worker pleads guilty to taking bribes

An Orange County employee pleaded guilty Monday to five counts of bribery for accepting $2,500 in cash and checks from a construction contractor to speed up pool permit application reviews.
Zeyad Mohd Kamel Faqih, 47, of Corona, who worked in the Resources Development and Management Department, was sentenced to 300 hours’ community service and ordered to pay $4,500 in fines and restitution. He is now disqualified from employment by any government agency in California.
The contractor has also been charged.
