Congress must remove Gonzales

Re “Testimony leads to renewed calls for Gonzales’ departure,” May 18
Isn’t it obvious by now that Atty. Gen. Alberto R. Gonzales needs to be removed from office? Congress needs to take actions beyond a no-confidence vote. He has abused the power of his office and cannot be allowed to continue his lies, deceit and illegal actions.

Torture memos, lifting of habeas corpus, trying to strong-arm then-Atty. Gen. John Ashcroft (and lying to Congress about it), violating the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, firing U.S. attorneys (and lying to Congress about it too). What could possibly be a higher standard for impeachment from office? Do it now.

It is the responsibility of Congress to clean up this administration and put our government back on track. If Congress cannot perform the simple task of removing Gonzales, then each member should maybe consider a job for which they are better suited.
