* Florida 9, at Chicago 4: Jeremy Hermida hit a tiebreaking three-run homer in the fifth inning and Josh Willingham added a three-run double in the eighth.
* at Milwaukee 5, Atlanta 4: Braves starter John Smoltz left the game in the fourth inning. The right-hander hurt his shoulder while warming up for the inning and injured his right pinkie finger in his previous at-bat.
* Cincinnati 2, at Houston 1: Scott Hatteberg hit a solo home run in the eighth inning and Matt Belisle struck out a career-high eight as the Astros lost their ninth in a row.
* Arizona 11, at Philadelphia 5: Orlando Hudson drove in four runs on four hits, Micah Owings pitched five effective innings and the Diamondbacks won their sixth in a row.
* at Pittsburgh 4, San Diego 1: Tom Gorzelanny gave up one run and seven hits in seven innings for the Pirates. He began the game third in the NL with a 2.51 ERA, and lowered that number to 2.39.
* at Colorado 8, St. Louis 3: Yorvit Torrealba hit a grand slam, Rodrigo Lopez struck out a season-high seven in six innings and the Rockies won their seventh in a row.
* at New York 5, San Francisco 4 (12 innings): The Mets took advantage of two balks by Giants closer Armando Benitez to win their fourth in a row.
* Dodgers 10, at Washington 0: Brad Penny scattered four hits over 6 1/3 innings and Juan Pierre had four extra-base hits.
