Hansen Natural Corp., the maker of Monster energy drinks, said third-quarter net income rose 73% to $45.8 million, or 46 cents a share, 3 cents less than analysts polled by Bloomberg had expected. The Corona company said sales rose 38% to $247.2 million. Hansen shares fell $13.17, or 23%, to $43.50.
True Religion Apparel Inc., the seller of handmade $200 jeans, said third-quarter net income rose 9% to $8.93 million, or 38 cents a share. Sales increased 13% to $48.7 million. The Los Angeles company said profit before a tax charge and severance costs was 42 cents a share, compared with the 39-cent average estimate of analysts surveyed by Bloomberg. True Religion shares rose $2.02 to $17.82.
Concert promoter Live Nation Inc. reported a third-quarter profit on acquisitions and ticket sales from global tours. Net income was $61.9 million, or 55 cents a share, compared with a net loss of $8.5 million, or 14 cents, a year earlier, the Beverly Hills-based company said. Sales climbed 13% to $1.55 billion.
