NO. 11 MISSOURI (5-0) AT NO. 6 OKLAHOMA (5-1)
- Share via
* Kickoff: Saturday 3:30 p.m.
* TV: FSN West.
* Line: Oklahoma by 10 1/2.
* Missouri update: The Tigers have started 4-1 or better in three of the past four seasons. But they have yet to exceed eight victories in a season during that span. Quarterback Chase Daniel, with 1,712 yards and 17 touchdowns, has emerged as a Heisman Trophy candidate for a team averaging 556 yards and 41 points a game, but the Tigers haven’t won in Norman since 1966. Leading rusher Tony Temple sprained his ankle last week and will be a game-time decision.
* Oklahoma update: The Sooners schedule eases after this one, so a Big 12 championship and a BCS bowl game could hinge on winning. They are third in the nation in scoring at 49.7 points a game, but have averaged only 26 against Colorado and Texas in their last two. Freshman Sam Bradford leads the nation with a 187.03 passer rating and has Oklahoma’s offense averaging 482 yards. Running back Allen Patrick is expected to play after missing the second half with cramps last week.
* Story line: It’s being billed as a Big 12 championship game preview and both teams are hoping to show they are national title contenders. A solid performance by Daniel would move him high up the Heisman watch list.
* The pick: Oklahoma. Both teams can move the ball and score, but Oklahoma has a better defense and should come up with the necessary key stops.
