Hewlett-Packard drops theft suit

A lawsuit accusing a former vice president of stealing company secrets was dropped by Hewlett-Packard Co.
The company sued former executive Karl Kamb and others in 2005, claiming they stole confidential information to set up a company to sell flat-panel monitors while they were supposed to be helping Hewlett-Packard develop the market. The Palo Alto-based company asked for more than $100 million in damages.
The two sides “resolved all claims between or among them,” Hewlett-Packard said in court papers filed Oct. 4 in federal court in Tyler, Texas. U.S. District Judge Michael Schneider dismissed the case Oct. 11.
