* No. 24 Michigan 27, at Illinois 17: Carlos Brown ran for 113 yards filling in for Mike Hart, and Mario Manningham scored two touchdowns to give the Wolverines (6-2, 4-0) the win over the Illini (5-3, 3-2) at Champaign. Hart, the nation’s leading rusher with 152 yards a game, watched from the sideline in street clothes after hurting an ankle last weekend in a win over Purdue. Brown’s 25 carries and Manningham’s nine catches for 109 yards helped Michigan extend its winning streak to six games.
* Penn State 36, at Indiana 31: The Nittany Lions (6-2, 3-2) forced four second-half turnovers, three of which led to short field goals, and Rodney Kinlaw ran for the clinching touchdown in a victory over the Hoosiers (5-3, 2-3) at Bloomington. Penn State is 11-0 all-time against Indiana.
* at Purdue 31, Iowa 6: Curtis Painter passed for 315 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Boilermakers (6-2, 2-2) over the Hawkeyes (3-5, 1-4) at West Lafayette, Ind. It was the fewest points Iowa scored against Purdue since a 21-0 loss to the Boilermakers in 1976.
* at Wisconsin 44, Northern Illinois 3: P.J. Hill ran for 184 yards and two touchdowns as the Badgers (6-2) went back to their power running game in a rout of the Huskies (1-7) at Madison to end a two-game skid. Hill, a sophomore, reached the 1,000-yard mark for the second straight season.
* North Dakota State 27, at Minnesota 21: Tyler Roehl rushed for a school-record 263 yards and a touchdown as the Bison (7-1) overpowered the Gophers (1-7) at Minneapolis as 30,000 of its fans celebrated at the Metrodome.
