* at Kansas City 3, Chicago 0: Zack Greinke struck out a career-high 10 and gave up two hits in eight innings, leading the Royals over the White Sox. Greinke (7-6), making his sixth start since rejoining the rotation on Aug. 24, allowed only one runner past first base and became the first Kansas City pitcher to reach double digits in strikeouts since Odalis Perez fanned 10 against Boston on Sept. 8 last year.
* Baltimore 6, at Texas 3 (10 innings): Nick Markakis scored the go-ahead run on an error in the 10th inning as the Orioles beat the Rangers in their first meeting since the Rangers scored an AL-record 39 runs in a doubleheader sweep last month, including a 30-3 win in the opener.
* at Angels 9, Seattle 5: With the victory, the Angels clinched at least a tie for the West Division title.
