Vehicle hits two girls in crosswalk

Two 13-year-old girls were critically injured Wednesday after they were struck by a vehicle on the way home from school in San Pedro, a Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman said.
The accident occurred shortly after 3 p.m. in a crosswalk in the 1400 block of North Ronan Avenue as the girls were crossing the street, said Fire Department spokeswoman d’Lisa Davies.
The victims, who were not immediately identified, were taken by ambulance to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, Davies said.
